From My Craft Room

Hello, everyone, from a dark and dismal wintery day in the West of Scotland.
It is some time since I've blogged as I've been so, so busy (haven't we all?) with samples and commissions. So, as time is limited for me at the moment, I thought I'd take time out to quickly share with you some photos of my commission work for November without the materials list that I normally attach.
Normal service should be resumed as soon as possible...lol!
So here goes...
Every year I make my Mum "special" Christmas cards for her to give to her close friends - this is it for 2011. This year I made 24 of this design.
A Birthday card which had to have Golden retrievers on it.
A 21st Card for Daughter A 21st Card for Sister A 21st Card for Niece
A 60th Card for Granda
A 60th Card for Dad
A 5th Birthday card with karaoke machine for Nephew
A 5th Birthday Card with Lightening McQueen for Grandson
A 5th Birthday Card with local football team for Nephew
A 65th Birthday Card for a Special Friend
I do hope you enjoy looking at them, and if you would like to know about any of the materials, please feel free to ask.
So sorry it's such a short visit - enjoy!
Hugs, Sheenagh x

A Very Important Date

Here are my latest MCS samples. These were featured on 15th November 2011 Pick of the Day on Ideal World and Create & Craft TV. This square card was created on white Super Smooth card matted and layered with red card behind the printed background to which I added the heart and the diamond shapes. The club and spade were decoupaged on top and glazed using 3d Crystal Lacquer. The playing cards were printed individually and layered and decoupaged. The printed sentiment tag was made using Spellbinder Dies - Grommet Tags - and feathers and gems added to complete the design.
Another almost A4 sized card printed on to Super Smooth white card and matted and layered with Gold Mirri board and a printed background that I created from the artwork on the cd. I used a corner punch to round the corners on the layers. The images and characters were all decoupaged to give depth and dimension. Again, the printed sentiment tag was created using Spellbinder Dies - Scalloped Circles. A generous helping of glitter on Cheshire Cat's grin completes the look I wanted to achieve.
This 8 x 8" card was created by printing a card background onto Super Smooth white card. A plain cream card was inked using Distress Inks - Wild Honey, Tea Dye and Antique Linen. The top printed layer was cut using Spellbinder Dies - Grand Labels One - and the main images distressed and decoupaged. I used Gold and Bronze Metallic Rub Ons to highlight the gilding effect on the book. Then, using the same distress inks, I stained a length of antique ribbon and paper flowers to tone in. A gemstone completes this distressed look design.
This almost A4 size card was created using Spellbinder Dies - Grand Labels Twenty Three.
The tea cup, saucer and spoon are individually decoupaged and glazed using 3d Crystal Lacquer to finish the design. The printed sentiment tag was inked using Distress Inks - Wild Honey.
These chocolate wrappers were simply created by printing scenes onto Premium Glossy photo paper.
This gift bag was made from an MCS Advanced Encyclopaedia cd template (slightly enlarged). I took the image from the gift card from the A Very Important Date cd and enlarged it to use on the front panel and printed a co-ordinated background for the back and side panels. Tip...I always print on both sides of the card so that the inside of the bag is in a toning colour and not just white. A matching gift tag is attached with ribbon and a paper flower made using Spellbinder Dies Daisy Flower Topper. A gem in the centre of the flower completes the look.
This large card (almost A4) was printed on A3 card and cut down to finished size using Spellbinder Dies - Grand Scalloped Rectangles. The printed backgrounds matts and layers were placed on Silver Mirri board, using Spellbinder Dies - Grand Scalloped Rectangles and Grand Scalloped Ovals - and the image of Alice decoupaged on the front. The small bottles were decoupaged and glazed using 3d Crystal Lacquer. The printed sentiment tag was made using Spellbinder Dies - Scalloped Circles. Small butterflies were glittered and placed to embellish. The design was finished off by a spotty grosgrain ribbon.
For this card, I created the background using images and artwork from the cd and printed on to Super Smooth White card. I then wrapped a sheet of acetate around and decoupaged the March Hare onto the front. To embellish, I pleated black fabric ribbon and added black silk flowers and feathers to hold the printed sentiment tag which was cut using Spellbinder Dies - Scalloped Circles.

My first samples for Elegant Inspirations

These samples are all from The Rachelle Anne Miller Collection double disc set and this first one was created by printing a background from the cd onto white cardstock. I then used a toning plain printed background for the base layer, which, along with the image layer and sentiment tag were cut using Spellbinders Grand Labels One dies. The flower was made from another background printed on to white paper and cut using Spellbinders dies Carnation Creations, while the flourishes were made with Spellbinders dies Floral Flourishes. Toning satin ribbon and wooden ladybird embellishments complete this design.
This sample was made using A3 card printed with a background from the cd and cut using Spellbinder dies Grand Scalloped Rectangles to give the basic card shape. A toning background was cut using Spellbinders Grand Labels Twenty Three onto which the twisted decoupage image was layered and tucked under some narrow satin ribbon which was laced around it. The sentiment tag was cut using Spellbinder Scalloped Ovals die. The flowers were Prima paper flowers which I coloured with Distress Inks to tone in. Small red heart gems and a large central gem in the flower complete the embellishment of this design.
This card was assembled by printing a background from the cd onto white cardstock, matting and layering the main image section onto bright yellow glitter card which had been cut using a Spellbinder Grand Scalloped Square die. The printed topper was rounded at the edges using a corner punch and the image decoupaged. The glass cockpit was glazed using 3d Crystal Lacquer and the planet and earth were attached using coiled wire to let them bounce around. A printed sentiment tag and blue gems were added to embellish this design.
The insert of the card above shows a matching bookmark and envelope which were printed from the cd and constructed as per instructions given. I created a pocket from another sheet of printed background card and added a blank insert for a personalised message to be written.

Jem's Designs Steampunk - The Age Of Steam cd Samples

This was created by printing the background onto white card stock and then the decoupage elements onto premium glossy photo paper to give a contrast. The paper flower was created using a piece of the skirt paper and cut using Spellbinders Carnation Creations dies. The sprockets were made using Spellbinders Sprightly Sprockets and the large one was embossed to give a dimpled effect as was the sentiment tag which was made with Spellbinders Scalloped Circle die. Some black and white fine organza ribbon and a couple of black pearl hat pins finish the look.
Again a background was printed onto white card and then matted and layered onto gold card and the main image decoupaged. Both clock faces have been highlighted with Metallic Rub-Ons in Bronze, Copper and Gold. I used Spellbinder Scalloped Circle die for the sentiment tag which was edged with Distress Inks and glazed the driving glasses with 3d Crystal Lacquer. Spellbinder Doodle Parts dies were used with gold mirri board for the flourishes and ivory striped organza ribbon, gold fabric flowers and ivory organza flowers complete the embellishment of this card.
This twisted decoupage design was printed onto white card and matted and layered with orange glitter card on to a printed background to create this acetate bubble card. Spellbinder Sprightly Sprockets and Grommet Tag dies provide the embellishments and the sentiment tag. Orange satin ribbon, paper flowers and gems complete this creation.

Jem's Designs Steampunk For Him cd Samples

This was created by printing out the backing paper on premium glossy photo paper which I then glued to white card using spray adhesive (Crafter's Companion Stick & Stay). The twisted decoupage was also printed on premium glossy photo paper and I used a piece of matching paper to create the sentiment bar with Spellbinder Edgeabilities Classic Postage Stamp. The greeting peeloff was coloured with black marker pen and brads, Tim Holtz sprockets and bulb were added to complete the design.
This gatefold design was printed onto white cardstock and matted and layered with backgrounds from the cd. The twisted image design was inked using Distress Inks and layered on to gold mirri board and then backed with matching background paper as it is visible when the card is opened. The large clock face was glazed using my favourite 3d Crystal Lacquer to give a glass like finish. The sentiment tag was made using Spellbinders Grommet Tags. Gold chain peeloffs and gold brads complete the design.
This decoupage design was made from printed images from the cd. It was matted on to old gold checkered cardstock. This was also used to create a sealed down side edge which had brown leather thong wrapped around and decorated wire coils and card candy. The main elements have been highlighted with Metallic Rub Ons in Copper, Pewter, Brass, Ruby and Blue. A gold peeloff sentiment completes the design.
